Not Just One Voice and the JP Centre Partner to Amplify Lived Experience and Strengthen Healthcare in British Columbia

Kelowna, BC — May 1, 2026

Not Just One Voice and the Jim Pattison Centre for Health Systems Learning + Innovation (JP Centre) have announced a new partnership aimed at amplifying the voices of patients, families, and point of care providers to inform health system learning and improvement across British Columbia (BC). Across the province, people experience the healthcare system in deeply personal ways, and through these experiences gain firsthand insights into what works well and where improvements are needed in the health system. Yet these experiences do not always reach the tables where decisions about healthcare are made.

Not Just One Voice is a non-profit creating a platform where patients, families and providers across BC can share their lived experiences navigating healthcare. By gathering and analyzing patterns in these experiences, the initiative aims to highlight opportunities for improvement while helping strengthen support for both patients and healthcare providers.

“As a patient who was a caregiver and a daughter that lost both of her parents I experienced first hand the challenges navigating our healthcare system. I am so excited to provide a space that will give voice to the citizens of British Columbia. Each experience is unique and equally as important. Not just one voice is here to say ‘we hear you, we see you, your experience matters, and now we are going to learn from them.’” said Desiree Thring, Founder and CEO of Not Just One Voice.

Through collaboration with the JP Centre, these insights will help inform health systems learning and quality improvement efforts, helping bridge the gap between the human experience of healthcare and the systems designed to support it. The JP Centre is an independent health systems learning and innovation hub based in Kelowna that works across BC to bring people and partners together to advance practical solutions that strengthen healthcare systems.

“This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to listening to the voices of people who experience healthcare every day,” said Dr. Deanne Taylor, Founding Executive Director of the JP Centre. “Not Just One Voice is creating an important platform for these perspectives to be heard, and we are excited to support the translation of these insights into learning that can help strengthen healthcare across the province.”

Not Just One Voice plans to engage communities across BC through storytelling initiatives, community conversations, and aligned partnerships that highlight the experiences of patients, families, and providers. The initiative seeks to foster constructive dialogue while encouraging collaboration among communities, healthcare leaders, and organizations working to strengthen the healthcare system.

British Columbians interested in sharing their experiences or learning more about the initiative will be able to follow updates and opportunities to participate through Not Just One Voice’s upcoming public engagement efforts.
